It’s been an impressive showcase for the Xbox Series X (and presumably the PlayStation 5, but Ubisoft only gave us access to the Xbox version ahead of launch), playing in 4K and a near-constant 60 frames per second. Though Ubisoft has dug up some of its stealth-action roots to make that style more appealing, Valhalla’s focus is on the absolutely massive recreation of Dark Ages England, brought to life with stunning beauty and a level of detail I’ve rarely seen.
Booting up Valhall on PS5 for the first time will present an identical list of trophies that won’t unlock retroactively.Like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Origins before it, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continues the series trajectory into a full-fledged open-world RPG. One thing that doesn’t carry over however is your trophy progress. Of course, make sure you have a copy of your save file also backed up on a console of USB just in case there’s an error. If you’ve logged into Ubisoft Connect via the game’s menu then you can carry your save data over to PS5 and pick up where you left. If you’re already well into Eivor’s journey on PS4 then there are a couple of things you should take into consideration. At the time of writing, the Viking era sequel weighs in at a hefty 84.55GB. The trade-off here is that the files size will be considerably larger than Valhalla on PS4. Expect improved loading times, enhanced visuals, and DualSense integration. Naturally, the PS5 version offers several advantages with Ubisoft making the use of Sony’s next-gen tech. We’ve attached a screenshot below so you know where to look.
When on the store page, look to the right side and you’ll see an icon for the PS5 upgrade (it’s sitting just above the trophies tab). If you press download then you’ll likely end up installing the PS4 version instead. If it does not appear on the main store page along with other new releases then use the search function in the top right corner.Įven when you locate the page for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, you may miss where to upgrade to PS5. Once you’ve set up your PlayStation 5 and signed into the PSN profile used to originally buy Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, go into the PlayStation Store and look for the game.
